While I don't breed many litters a year, each litter bred is in an effort to improve the Australian Cattle Dog and not to meet public demand. I do not do this for profit, I do this to maintain the integrity of the breed. I am not a professional breeder nor am I a commercial breeder with a kennel, I maintain a few bitches and dogs that I believe can make a contribution to the breed.
Our puppies are raised in the house under foot, at no time are they in rabbit hutches or on wire, we also train our babies starting at 3 weeks to potty on "pee pads" and by 6 weeks they are using a litter box, this is very helpful with future house training. We will also have a live webcam up and running so you can watch your baby, the time of day depends on my schedule but will be up at least an hour a day. Our puppies are socialized with cats, and older dogs, and between 5 and 6 weeks they are introduced to the "agility play room" where they are allowed to climb, and get the feel of new and different textures under their feet. They are exposed to lots of sights and sounds. Our bitches in whelp and puppies are fed Evo Red Meat dog food, this is a no grain dog food, we also recommend and feed Evo dog food to our adult dogs with normal activity.

Hollow Log has also made a pledge to make a 5% contribution to ACDHEW for every puppy sold.  While we are unable to take in and foster rescue dogs, any dog bred by Hollow Log will be welcomed back at any time of their life, regardless of health, regardless of age, with no questions asked. It is our wish not to contribute to the pet over population while still trying to maintain the integrity of the Australian Cattle Dog.

I will occasionally offer an intact breeding female or male to established and reputable breeders that have similar breeding philosophies, all other offspring are offered to companion and performance homes on AKC Limited Registration ALL OF THESE WILL BE SPAYED AND NEUTERED, NO EXCEPTIONS.

This is due to the "Ruby Factor".

Ruby is Hollow Log Lakota Sioux. Ruby was a stud fee puppy, as the exception to my rule she went out with full registration and not on co-ownership, when she did not turn out to be a show/breeding quality female she was placed in a pet home, unfortunately she was not spayed prior to being placed. Sadly Ruby ended up in a home that would put financial gain in front of Ruby's health. Ruby would be bred 3 times and on the 4th breeding she dropped dead from PYO, which is an infection of the uterus, Ruby would not see her third birthday. She was born on Feb. 6, 2005, she produced her 1st litter in 2005 before she was a year old, she went on to produce 2 more litters, she was bred a 4th time and this breeding would kill her, she died on Jan. 27, 2008. It is my goal to make sure another Hollow Log puppy does not end up in this situation, because of this all puppies are to be spayed or neutered or I will stay on as co-owner until they are spayed or neutered. No bitch should be bred this way, especially this young, and financial gain should never be more important that the health of an animal.
